New LCD - Samsung LN40B550

After waiting 2 months, finally Bestbuy let me exchange the "crap" Westinghouse 42" LCD for another LCD because they weren't able to order the part to repair the TV(actually Geek Squad guy never came to my house to check TV and I just said with him to phone" my TV has non-working HDMI ports" and he said he ordered the mainboard to repair it which never came). They didn't let me get 120Hz set so I decided to go with Samsung Ln40B550(new 2009 model) Paid $70 more and brought it home.(Just google it if you wanna know the price :)




I tried to play some Jp PS2 games and the pictures look better than my previous Westinghouse TV. Yeah, these are 480i pictures, no HD yet.

Anime Haul at Bestbuy - Part 2 -

Last week, I drove over 200 miles to other Bestbuy stores(thanks to GPS) which I never came before and luckily their anime sections were better than my local Bestbuy store.





Finally I was able to score Akira,Gunbuster vs. Diebuster and Arfo Samurai Resurrection on Bluray for 50% off. A young guy cashier adjusted the price manually without asking unlike other **** girl cashiers.


I already spent totally $1k for this sale until now. It looks like I won't buy a new LCD because of this crazzzyyy sale.

Anime Haul at Bestbuy - Part 1 -

Monday:Due to snowstorm , I called out of work,stayed at home,played some games and slept. I didn't want to take a risk to drive to Bestbuy for anime sale in bad weather.




For anyboday who ask me where I sleep, this is it.



Tuesday: Snowstorm was stopped, I took a drive to Bestbuy and got a huge anime DVDs. I already spent over $400 on this sale but it'll be more when I come back. Here is the haul:



Very happy when I got 4 Dragon Ball Z Seasons that I missed for a good price. Shakugan No Shana Boxset for the OVA(I still have 5 singel DVDs,miss vol.3)....



3 volumes of When They Cry to complete the set. Clannad,Death Note Vol.7 & 8, Karin 5& 6(need to find vol.4).I really wanted Gunbuster vs.Diebuster Bluray and Akira Bluray but I got denied when I tried to get 50% off.



I also picked up Halo Wars which I already pre-ordered and some 1 cent guides. The last stop was Circuitcity, I bought some DVD movies with 70% off.

Bestbuy - Anime on sale

If you don't know yet, 461 Bestbuy stores currently have a huge anime sale scheduled to start on 3/1/09 to 3/21/09. The deal is 50% off on any anime DVDs,Blurays. So, Otaku if you want to save money, this is a chance to get them for cheap.
I already have a list of anime that I want to buy and it'll be a lots. So the next post will be anime from Bestbuy.


I got some new stuff: Voltron Vol.6,Yuyu Hakusho vol.15,Dr.Slump 17, Death Note Movie 2, Fire Emblem DS soundtrack, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney soundtrack and 3 game CD soundtracks from Rosenqueen sale.



I love to look at Haruhi,Lucky Star boxsets (I hope Lucky Star Vol.6 LE will get released)

In this economy recession, it's hard to open the wallet to buy something. With me, I rarely pay full retail price for a DVD, a game even with anime,game I like so much...so I usually wait for the sale but support the legal stuff better than pirate them. Ok, back to "Otaku" stuff, I am still buying and almost Anime,Manga that I buy from Rightstuf. Here is some lastest Anime DVDs, Manga I bought in the past 2 months:



Got Lucky Star Vol.5 LE. Again,the Lucky Star anime is very enjoyable, I am always laugh when watch it. Too bad, Bandai has cancelled Lucky Star Vol.6 LE(normal verion will be still out). Boo...Talking about incomplete Lucky Star Limited Edition.:(. Some Viewtiful Joe DVDs which are only $2/each---Story of Saiunkoku Vol.3 boxset---Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan and some CDs soundtrack



Got some lastest manga that I need to complete the series. In the picture #1: Shaman King Vol.17-20(this manga lets me down), Ultimate Muscle NG vol.20 (Kevin Mask vs. Kid Muscle is awesome although I know the result who wins. Thanks to wiki) Dr Slump Vol.16(still funny as hell,Obotchaman and Arale will get married) Yuyu Hakusho vol.16(the fight with Sensui S-level demon and the "dead" of Yusuke) Legend of Zelda Orcaria of time (need to play the game before reading it)




Pic #2: Genshiken - Official Book(nothing is new in here, the "new stories" are only in texts like a novel and were not written by Kio Shimoku . A must buy if you are a Genshiken fan) Strawberry 100% Vol.6-7, Whistle Vol.20-21, Case Closed Vol.24-26 and Neon Genesis Evangelion Vol.11( I thought this volume didn't come out)

Video Games:



Left 4 Dead is an awesome game. I usually hate First Person Shooting game on home console because I could not control the gun point target by using controller(a PC mouse is easy to control)but Left 4 Dead is totally diffrent. It has been 2 months since I bought the game and I am still play it everyday(I can't beat the Expert though).
Got a bunch of Wii,Xbox 360 games from Circuitcity,Gamestop during the big sale.



Pre-ordered Halo Wars from Bestbuy so I can get a free month XBox Live Gold and thanks to Target clearance, I got some PS3 games that were very cheap:Singstar bundle,Merc 2...



Bought Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon with free LE Laser Cel today, can't wait to play. Five other NDS games: Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword(one is new and one is used),Legend of Kage 2,Izuna 2,RE DS. Three PS1 games: Legend of Dragoon, Valkyrie Profile and Parasite Eve. .Hack GU Vol.1 LE, Braveknight(Jp Xbox)Can this game play on Jp Xbox 360? I don't know yet(too lazy to open the Jp Xbox 360 to try)



Ninja Gaiden guides that I love to have them and Person 4 with Visual Book, also got 2 Disgaea guides.




Some PC games I got very super cheap at Target($2,$1/each) except Red Alert 3 from Bestbuy(need to buy a new PC so I can play this game, my old PC can't handle this game). Guess it will be easy for me to command the troops by mouse than X360 controller) Soldner-X: Himmelsstürmer Limited Edition from Playasia.
I also bought The Harmony 360 Remote Control to reduce over 6 device remotes I have.It's easy to set up and control.One remote for all devices,it's awesome.





Movies: Jackie Chan is a great actor and it's very fun to watch his movies. Got 4 Jackie Chan movies, 3 HD-DVDs and 2 Bluray including the Dark Night with $7 mail-in rebate.


The last thing, I am looking to buy a new LCD to replace the crap Westinghouse 42" 1080 LCD(HDMI ports can't accept signal and it has burn-in line on screen) This time I will buy a Brand Name TV. I already have 4 LCD series in my head : Sony W4100,Sony Z4100,Sony KDL XBR6 and Samsung A650.All these series do 120hz. 40" will be enough for my Otaku room so the hunt for the new LCD begins.

Too many stuff...

It has been over a month since the last post. So,how were your Thanksgiving for eating turkey and Black Friday for going out shopping?My Black Friday was great.This year, I went shopping online instead of going to the store in cold weather. The most stuff I bought on Black Friday from Amazon. They had a great sale for movies and video games.

The first item I bought on Black Friday was the new Xbox 360 core with Dance Dance Revolution 3 bundle from Amazon. Actually, I didn't plan to buy new Xbox 360 but with the $130(a famous glitch from Amazon) for a new Xbox 360 and game, I bought it without thinking because I need it to replace my old Xbox 360(non-HDMI port,read disc very noisy)


The funny thing was: when I opened the new Xbox 360, I searched around the box and couldn't find the 256MB Memory Card. After googling, I found out that the new Xbox 360 has 256MB of internal built-in storage and it is Jasper model(Mfr date: 2008-10-24).That is my 3rd Xbox 360. 2 are NSTC/UC version and one is NTSC/J.



Sorry, Lucky Star Xbox 360. You need to go.



A part of new Xbox 360 system, I get the new Japanese modded PS2. I download some torrent games and burn them on DVD and they work great. It helps me to play some expensive Jp games that I don't want to pay big money for them.Japanese games are sure expensive. Also got a new Samsung 1080p DVD Player to replace my Philip DVR 5982 which always has problem with my Westinghouse LCD.




Other "Otaku" stuff:

Animal Crossing City Folk Bundle,R-Type plus model,Eternal Poison plus art book,Rune Factory 2 plus plush. They were on sale from Amazon and MGS3,JetLi RoH from Goozex(100point/each).




Going shopping with my husband at Gamestop on Saturday last week when they had B2G1 free for used video games,accessories and I scored some rare and new games:



For Anime:

Thanks to the sale at Rightstuf. I was able to purchase full set of Oh! My Goddess Season 2. Death Note vol.5 and 6 for $12. Death Note Vol.4 LE and Naruto boxset 8 for $22. The only anime I paid full price was Lucky Star Vol.4 Limited Edition and I will pay full price for next volumes.
